Update on the smocked dress...

Here is a picture of the dress after it's been pleated.
This is a side view showing how the sides are still open:
This is the back:
Here it is on a hanger.
This week we'll be on vacation with Jesse's family and Shannon is going to teach me how to smock! Hopefully, when I get back I'll be able to post some pictures of the progress...

Bailey cracked a tooth!

Friday evening my little buddy was performing some circus stunts on our living room floor. I was well aware of what he was up to and I thought to myself " he's just being a boy, getting some energy out and buying me some time to clean up around my bedroom" Well then I heard the most terrible cry--that cry that immediately screams "he's REALLY hurt!" Seconds later he's running up to me with his mouth wide open, trying to catch his breath, before he lets out another wail. I didn't see any blood so I wasn't too concerned. I thought "wow, he must really be tired if he's getting this upset and there isn't even blood." He calmed down after about 10 minutes and we moved on. Then, at dinner, after taking his first bite he looked up at me and said, "mom, it hurts when I eat this. It hurts like all the way down inside my tooth." My first thought was "oh, no he has a cavity" (I quickly tried to remember the last time I had brushed his teeth). So I asked him to open his mouth. I looked at the tooth he was pointing at and saw red lines across the top. Curious as I am, I decided to scrape across them with my nail (yes, I know, weird) and I just about fainted when my nail slipped down into a crack in the middle of his tooth. I gasped very loudly! He said, "what's wrong, mom?" Oh, nothing honey. "Then why did you say," agh!"Oh, nothing. Why don't you just put your fork down and I'm going to go call Daddy.

Anyway, turns out he was getting a running start and landing belly first on the couch pillows which would send him sailing across the hardwood floors. On his last (ever!) attempt he missed the pillow and landed his chin on the floor. Ouch! He cracked is tooth in several places. Dr. Fred removed one quadrant of the tooth and put a silver cap on the rest of it. Bailey was such a big boy at Dr. Fred's office! He never got scared and did great through it all! I was surprised and a little sad that he didn't need me to hold his hand anymore. Sniffle, sniffle.
